Bakker Crossing Thursday League:
Thanks for your interest in the Bakker Crossing Thursday League. Below is all the information on the 2 Man League that will be held on Thursdays throughout the Summer starting May 12th.

Mission Statement:
Our mission of Bakker Crossing Men's Thursday Golf League is to create a fun golfing environment for all participants. To have a competitive but fun league that all players will have an opportunity to win prizes. To provide an atmosphere that will allow everyone to meet new people and socialize on a weekly basis.

General Information:

The Bakker Crossing Thursday league will consist of 18 2-Man teams.  We will divide the teams into three divisions.  You will play each team in your division twice and four non conference teams.  The league will consist of 14 weeks of league play starting May 12th and finish Aug. 11th. 

Format:

The format will be Four Ball Match play which two play their better ball against the better ball of the two other players. Players will use their net better ball. Each team will get 1 point if they win the hole, ½ point if they tie the hole and no points if they lose the hole. Whichever team has the most points at the end of the match will be awarded one point for a total of 10 points per match.  We will use 80% of the players handicap to compute how many strokes you will get on each hole.  You will play all nine holes each match.

Playoffs:

The playoffs will consist of 3 weeks starting Aug. 18th with the Championship Match set for Sept. 1st.  The top two teams in each division will make the playoffs.  Teams will be seeded 1-6 based on total points.  The top two seeds will get a bye based on total points.  Playoffs will be the following three weeks Aug. 18th, Aug. 25th and the Championship and Consolation will be Sept. 1st. 

Subs:

Players are responsible for getting their own sub.  We do have a good sub list from the Bakker Crossing Men's Golf Association.  Bakker Crossing will make every effort to help you get in contact with potential subs but the players will be responsible for getting a sub.  ALL SUBS must have a GHIN Handicap or they will play to a zero handicap.

LEAGUE HANDICAPS:

SDGA GHIN HANDICAPS WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE YOUR HANDICAP FOR LEAGUE PLAY.  YOU WILL RECEIVE 80% OF YOUR HANDICAP.  TO CALCULATE STROKES AWARDED TAKE 80 PERCENT OF YOUR HANDICAP INDEX TO GET YOUR HANDICAP.  WE WILL THEN STROKE OFF THE LOWEST HANDICAP OF THE GROUP.  EX:  IF THE HANDICAPS ARE 3, 8, 10 AND 15. THE 3 HANDICAP WILL GET ZERO STROKES AND THE 8 HANDICAP WILL GET 5 STROKES, THE 10 WILL GET 7 STROKES AND THE 15 WILL GET 12 STROKES.

FORFEITS:

ALL LEAGUE PLAYERS WILL FIND A SUB IF HE IS UNABLE TO PLAY. HOWEVER, IN THE EVENT OF A FORFEIT, THE FORFEITING TEAM RECEIVES 0 POINTS. THE TEAM WINNING BY FORFEIT RECEIVES 7 POINTS.  IF BOTH TEAMS ARE ABSENT, THE MATCH MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN TWO WEEKS OR BOTH TEAMS GET ZERO POINTS.  IF PLAYERS CANNOT DECIDE ON A TIME TO PLAY THERE WILL BE A STANDING T-TIME AT 4 PM ON THE LAST DAY TO MAKE UP THE MATCH.

PLAYERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

ENTERING YOUR OWN PERSONAL SCORE IN THE COMPUTER AND GIVING YOUR SCORE CARD TO THE PRO SHOP.  WE WILL HAVE THE RESULTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET AND POSTED ON THE BULLETIN BOARD IN THE PRO SHOP.

WEATHER CANCELLATION:  LEAGUE PLAY WILL NOT BE CANCELLED UNLESS THE COURSE IS UNPLAYABLE OR THERE IS LIGHTENING.  IF THERE IS A CANCELLATION, NO MAKE-UP WILL OCCUR.  IF THAT HAPPENS, TEAMS WILL HAVE TWO WEEKS TO MAKE UP THEIR MATCH.  IF NO MAKE-UP IS COMPLETED WITHIN TWO WEEKS POINTS WILL BE SPLIT EVENLY.

The cost of the league is $100 per team. Players must have a USGA GHIN handicap to participate. The top eight teams will win gift certificates to the Pro Shop.

2011 Payouts:


1st place:               25% = $450
2nd Place:             20% = $360

3rd Place:              15% =$270
4th Place:              10% = $180

5th Place:                7% =$126

6th Place:                6% = $108

       

High Points 1st half season - 4% = $72
