The ALL NEW Bakker Crossing Junior Golf Academy will take the place of the Bakker Crossing junior golf league for 2012. This summer program will go from May 21st until Aug. 6th or until the start of the high school golf season.  Please read the information below about our summer golf program.

The Bakker Crossing Jr. Golf Academy is for serious jr. golfers, boys & girls, that want to take their game to the next level. For those players that really want to improve their swing, lower their score, play tournament golf and play at the high school or college level this is where you want to be. We will be playing or practicing at least 5 days per week for the summer.  It will be very difficult to be heavily involved in other sports during this period as you will be focusing strictly on the game of golf.  This is not to take away from participating on other sports but more to have golf as your main focus.  This is a great opportunity that will be the only program of this kind in the state of South Dakota. You will become a better golfer by the end of the summer if you put the time and effort into this program.  Participation is limited to the first 30 juniors to sign up.

Bio:

Jason has been Head Golf Professional at Bakker Crossing since the inception in 2002.   He has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 1997.  Jason grew up in Luverne, MN and is a graduate of The San Diego Golf Academy. He started his career at Westward Ho Country Club in 1991. He was the Assistant at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, CA before moving to Topeka, Kansas in 1994. Jason was at Lake Shawnee Golf Course, in Topeka for two seasons. While at Lake Shawnee Golf Course he set the course record (61).  Before coming to Bakker Crossing, Jason was the teaching professional at the Sports Center Golf Complex in Topeka, KS. He has been teaching and playing professionally for the past 18 years. He has taught beginners up to the professional level.  Some of Jason's students most recent accomplishments include:  2010 Women's Minnesota State Open Champion, Women's City Champion, SDGA Women's Stroke play champion, USGA Jr. Am qualifier and many state high school golf participants.  Some of his other playing accomplishments include: Qualified for the 1997 Regional Club Professional Championship, 2001 Ben Hogan Classic Champion (67), 2006 Bakker Crossing Open Champion(70), 2008 Bakker Crossing Open Champion(66), 2009 Top 10 Minnesota Section PNC(73-73) and 2011 Top 20 Minnesota Section PNC.  Jason has been selected as an Honorable Mention Top Kids Teacher by U.S. Kids Golf for 2010.  Jason has worked with instructors such as Hank Haney, Stan Utley, Dr. Gary Wiren and Phil Rogers. Jason is very patient, has a fresh teaching approach and will help improve your golf game.

Bio:

I am currently the Head Golf Professional at Ivey Ranch Country Club in Palm Springs, CA.  Before Ivy Ranch I was the Assistant Golf Pro at Westward Ho CC from 2005-2011.  I have been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 2009.  I have been playing and teaching professionally for the last 22 years.  I have an extreme passion for teaching and playing golf. I have been playing golf since I was five years old. I have been playing in tournaments since I was eight years old. I played junior golf in the Los Angeles area at a time when the talent pool was outstanding. I had the great fortune of getting beat by players who have won on the PGA and Nationwide Tours. The experience of playing against such great players helped me become a better player and a better teacher. I also had the fortune of working with one of the first "Launch Monitor" companies at the PGA Merchandise Show in Florida for the years of 1998, 1999 and 2001. This experience helped me develop a teaching style that maximizes a player skill as well as teaching me valuable club fitting skills. I have two favorite moments in my golf career. The first was my win at the Bakker Crossing Charity Pro-Am. I was able to win in front of friends and play the two best rounds of my life back to back in a pressure situation. The second was my win at the Ivey Ranch Pro-Am in 2003. I won the Pro-Am playing with my Dad at his home course and broke the course record by four shots. I can't think of anything better.

Jason Crisp, PGA Apprentice Golf Professional

Bio:

Jason D. Crisp known as "Crispy" joined the team at Bakker Crossing to open the 2010 golf season. Jason is also a past graduate of the Golf Academy of the Carolinas, a branch campus of the San Diego Golf Academy. Jason's hometown is Dell Rapids, SD where he grew up on the golf course. Jason has a well-rounded golf background and has experience at nearly every position at a golf facility. Jason is committed to his profession and has recently enrolled as a PGA Apprentice in the PGA of America's PGM Program. Prior to joining Bakker Crossing, Jason was operating the Jason Crisp Golf Academy; a self owned teaching business and finishing his last season of work at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids, SD, as the Interim General Manager. As a young professional beginning a life-long career in golf, Jason is eager to learn and realizes the hard work and dedication it takes to succeed in the golf industry. Crispy has an energetic and exciting approach to the game and industry of golf.

We are excited to be working together to try to improve junior golf in the Sioux Falls and surrounding area.  We all share a common bond to help juniors play better and become better people. We are extremely hard working and want this program to show our beliefs in hard work, commitment and learning. We look forward to working with each of you and making you a better person and better golfer.

Bakker Crossing Jr. Golf Academy - Practice & Play Schedule

All practices will be from the times below.  Practices will be in three (3) hour blocks.  Times may vary due to tournament schedules.  Play days will vary each week depending on tournament days and practice times.

We will also have a tournament schedule for all players to attend.  You will need to sign up through the SDGA Jr Tour or the Sioux Empire Jr. Challenge.  Fees associated with any tournaments will be the responsibility of the golfer.  There are several opportunities for scholarships from the SDGA and SEJC, if you participate in these golf tours.  For more information talk with Jason.

The price for the summer golf academy is $600 + tax =  $624.  This will include the following:

1. 2012 junior membership to Bakker Crossing Golf Course
2. Driving range pass to Bakker Crossing Golf Course
3. 5 individual lessons (these will be set up on off practice times)
4. Eleven practices (3 hours per practice)
5. Eleven play days with instructors
6. Complete tournament schedule
